Our Story & Mission: Hopeful Hearts Speech Therapy began as a dream to bring high-quality, accessible, and transformative communication support to children and their families. Founded by Lacy Harris, MS, CCC-SLP, the practice was born from a deep-rooted passion for meeting the unique needs of the South Central Kentucky community. As a native of Greensburg, Ky, Lacy recognized a significant need for specialized, private therapeutic services that go beyond the traditional clinic walls. Today, she steps into the role of private practitioner to empower children as autonomous communicators, utilizing a holistic approach that supports both the child and the family unit to ensure skills flourish in everyday life. The Heart of Our Practice: At Hopeful Hearts, we believe therapy should be "heart work." Lacy is dedicated to building joyful, positive relationships with her clients, ensuring every session is as engaging and motivating as it is impactful. Our therapy style is rooted in neurodiversity-affirming, play-based, and child-led strategies. By combining evidence-based clinical expertise with the natural rhythm of play, we facilitate communication development that feels authentic and fun. Specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Lacy is trained in systems such as PODD, and various low-tech/mid-tech/high-tech AAC systems. She is passionate about clinical advocacy and problem-solving to find the "why" behind every communication need, ensuring every child—regardless of their communication profile—gains a sense of autonomy and connection. Meet Lacy Harris, MS, CCC-SLP: Lacy wears many hats, but her favorite is being a partner to families navigating the world of communication. With almost a decade of experience across schools and outpatient clinics, Lacy brings a wealth of knowledge to her private practice. Specialized Areas of Focus: AAC & Functional Communication: Specializing in complex communication needs and device trials. Early Language Development: Supporting "late talkers" through a play-centered lens. Speech Sound Production: Articulation and phonological support. Pragmatic & Play Skills: Building social connection through affirming practices. Education & Credentials: Lacy is a proud alumna of Lindsey Wilson College and earned her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Western Kentucky University. She is a Kentucky-licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) and a dedicated lifelong learner, constantly pursuing advanced training in AAC frameworks and family coaching strategies/approaches to better serve the families that she works with. Beyond the Clinic: When she isn’t problem-solving for her families, Lacy enjoys traveling, pursuing creative projects, crafting, and hosting friends. You’ll often find her on adventures with her Aussiedoodle, Boone, who is currently in training to one day join the team as our official "Chief Therapy Dog." A Mobile & Virtual Model: We believe that therapy is most effective when it is convenient and accessible. We currently offer services as a mobile and virtual practice for our families.
